At what age should a child visit a dentist ?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a child’s first dental visit should occur within six months after the first tooth appears or by the child’s first birthday, whichever comes first. After this initial visit, children should continue to visit the dentist regularly, typically every six months, unless the dentist recommends more frequent visits due to specific oral health needs.
Regular dental visits are important for monitoring the growth and development of a child’s teeth and jaws, detecting and addressing any dental problems early on, and educating parents and children about proper oral hygiene practices. By starting dental visits at an early age, children can establish a positive relationship with the dentist and develop good oral health habits that can last a lifetime.
